How To Make A Bedhead

Add your own creative flair in your bedroom with this DIY bedhead.

It's a quick and inexpensive way to refresh your bedroom.

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Plywood sheet. 2400x1200x18mm
  • Staple Gun + Staples
  • Vinyl material
  • Selleys Kwik Grip – water based
  • Scissors
  • Jig Saw
  • Sand paper 120 grit
  • Pencil + tape measure
  • Adhesive spreader
  • Spirit level
  • Trimmer
  • Hammer, nail and string
  • Drop sheet + dust brush
  • Rag + safety glasses

How To

  1. Mark with a pencil the shape of the bedhead

  2. Cut out this shape using a Jig Saw
  3. Use the sand paper to sand any splintery edges

  4. Dust down any sawdust from the face of the ply

  5. Lay out your vinyl and cut to size making it overhang the bedhead by about 50mm.

  6. Apply Selleys Kwik Grip to both surfaces and leave for 20mins
  7. Bring both surfaces together and push vinyl firmly against bed head to ensure good contact.
  8. Once the glue has bonded both surfaces, flip the bedhead and staple the edges down
  9. Place the bedhead behind the bed and style.
