At Selleys, we are committed to sustainable practices that align with our core values and the well-being of our planet and its inhabitants.  

We have a long history and passion for repair, re-using and re-purposing. Our founder, Martin Selley was a pioneer in this space inventing metallic cement in 1949, to solve for the shortage of aluminium to manufacture kitchen utensils, the ambition was that Australians could repair and reuse their kitchen pots and pans without having to purchase new ones.  

Today, Selleys continues this passion for living sustainably. Not only do we sell sealants, adhesives, and fillers that enable you to repair, re-purpose and re-use your loved items; we also aim to inspire and educate everyone by showcasing inspirational projects and creating educational “how to” videos.  

We recognize the importance of reducing our environmental footprint and making responsible choices in all aspects of our business to align our operations with our ambition of achieving ‘a future without harm’.

Our sustainability improvement goals include: 

Product Stewardship: We strive to minimize our impact on the environment by reducing waste, conserving resources, and promoting recycling. We have implemented recycling initiatives at our main manufacturing site to repurpose wooden pallets, bulk bag liners and office waste.  We have implemented the Australasian Recycling Label system on our packs to help consumers correctly dispose of used packaging.  

Packaging  & Product Innovation: We continuously develop and improve products that are energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and safe for both our customers and the planet.  

Responsible Sourcing: We prioritize responsible sourcing of materials, promoting ethical and sustainable practices throughout our supply chain. 

Energy Efficiency: We work to reduce our energy consumption and implement energy-efficient technologies across our operations. 

Employee Engagement: We foster a culture of sustainability among our employees, encouraging them to be environmentally conscious in their daily tasks and decision-making. 

Community Engagement: We actively participate in community initiatives and projects that promote environmental awareness and sustainability. We have partnered with Habitat for Humanity, as we believe everyone deserves a safe place to live.  

Future Tradies: Through our partnership with Carpentry Australia and Melbourne PolyTechnic Tafe we aim to support the Trades people of the future with the knowledge and skills to be successful.
